The 39th annual July 4 Butterfly Count will be held at the Horner Bird and Wildlife Refuge near Brownsboro, Oldham County, on Saturday, July 11. Meet at 9:30 am at the Brownsboro General Store. All interested persons are invited to attend. Come for an hour, or as long as you wish. No experience is necessary, and children are especially invited. Butterfly nets will be available for borrowing, and experienced lepidopterists will help people learn about butterflies. Rain date, Sunday, July 12.

41st Annual Meeting, November 13 & 14 2015
Meeting will take place at the Insect Museum in the Dimock Animal Pathology Building, University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky
There will be the Gathering of Lepiodpterists on Friday evening November 13. There will be a featured speaker on Saturday November 14, 2015. The collection will be open for viewing. Bring specimens for identification or show and tell.

Oldham County Butterfly Count, Saturday, June 21, 2014

The 38th annual July 4 Butterfly Count will be held at the Horner Bird and Wildlife Refuge near Brownsboro, Oldham County, on Saturday June 21. All interested persons are invited to attend. We meet at 9:30 AM in the parking lot of Sugarbabe Antiques in Brownsboro, about one mile from Exit 14 of I-71. Wear long pants, long-sleeved shirt, a good hat, and bring insect repellant, water and lunch. We will divide into counting teams and count butterfly species in fields and forest from 10 AM to 3 PM. Come for an hour, or as long as you wish. No experience is necessary, and children are especially invited. Butterfly nets will be available for borrowing, and experienced lepidopterists will help people learn about butterflies. In 2012 we counted 36 different species and 765 individual butterflies.
